"Can we build it?" "Yes we can!"

so my good friend nikki and i went to help with a Habitat for Humanity house this morning. it was a great experience and i even came back with all my fingers and toes! we met up with don and joe and ed- typical construction workers names!! :) they were some of the nicest and sweetest older guys ever. nikki had worked with them before and knew what she was doing but i didn't have a clue. they were so patient with explaining it to me. i learned so much. i got to wear a cool tool belt too full of nails and my trusty hammar. i looked really professional, but my work soon proved that i was not!! :) first we set up the scafolding and then nikki and i got on top of the roof- yes ON TOP- i was a little freaked out at first, but soon got used to it. we put up the ply wood for the porch roof. i definetly went through my share of nails! i had a hard time nailing in straight, but as time went on i kind of got the hang of it. i have to admit i never knew doing construction could be so enjoyable. i helped someone build a house!! even though it was just a small portion, i had a part in it. and working with those old guys was so great. they were so funny and loved to pick on eachother. they informed me that if i got a splinter that i should put gasoline on in it and light a match. good thing i didn't get too many splinters!!lol. i was also told that there are no mistakes, just engineering changes. hopefully i'll get to go back and help again before school is out. they say that putting up siding is a lot of fun. :)
